Rice Watch and Action Network is launching the 1st "Green Thumb Thesis Award" in an effort to consolidate technical evidences on the environmental, health and economic benefits of sustainable rice production.

Interested parties can submit the following information on or before Oct. 30, 2008:

A synopsis highlighting their areas of study, discription of the production/farming system applied, methodology and the study's finding on any of the following:

1. environmental (soil, plant physiology, biodiversity, etc..),

2. health

3. economic benefits

3 WINNERS WILL BE SELECTED AND GIVEN Ph 50,000 each:

(Award will be shared by thesis adviser (Ph10,000) and student (Ph40,000)

A team of judges will be constituted to select the winners. The team of Judges will be composed of members of R1, a member of PHILRICE and a member of a prestigious agriculture university.
